Before birth, my main job is to get to know you and your desires for your birth. This can be done in one or several meetings, depending on your needs. We will go over many options for your labor and write a birth plan. While I do not give medical advice, I can also let you know your options, both holistic and medical, for the discomforts of pregnancy. Building trust both within your own body and with me is key during this time.

 

After the birth, I stay with you for as long as needed. I help get breastfeeding established if that is your feeding preference. I also provide postpartum home visits to check on you and baby and offer any help and support I can at that time as well as unlimited phone and email support.

Whitney Nichols-Dewey is a certified birth (labor) doula serving the Denver and Boulder areas.

At your first phone call when you think you're in labor, I am available, whether 2am or 2pm. I can come help you labor at home before you transfer to the hospital, or when your midwife gets there for a home birth, or meet you at the hospital/ birth center, whatever fits your needs. If you have a birth partner, I can help them offer support in different situations. My job is not to take away from the birth partner, but rather, add to. I can help with massage, visualization, positioning, education, or just a hand to hold.

 

Birth can be a joyous and intense experience and having good support is a blessing. I would be honored to join you in your journey to motherhood.
